Grove


 

My contribution:

In this project I was given the role of lead developer due to my previous knowledge in Unreal Engine. With that role my tasks included helping others with Unreal Engine questions and issues and making final calls on programming disagreements if necessary. My personal work was dedicated greatly with the main characters movement. Primarily how they behaved while using the snowboard like shield. We wanted the movement to flow from a basic walking/running character to a full blown snowboard physics based movement system. This included taking into account the players speed, direction, and slope of the ground. We also added in some vines to use as grind-rails. I also did all the menu work and work on the in game UI. I designed and built the collectables system in game along with how they spawn and trigger changes in the characters UI. I also worked on geyser launchers, particle effects, and the camera movement. In the background I also helped manager our file system and our team's use of perforce.

 

Grove is a 3D platforming exploration game based on an island. The main character Ria ends up on this island and slowly discovers the secrets of the island.

The story revolves around Ria’s past and the consequences of the strange meteor that stuck the island.

The player gets to explore the island while collecting relics of the past, interacting with the wildlife, and traversing the unique environments.
